New report shows the lengths to which Huawei has gone to copy Apple

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

An engineer for the China-based smartphone maker Huawei recently sent a photo of some product design material to an Apple supplier. The Huawei engineer’s note gently prodded the supplier to “suggest a design you already have experience with,” but the supplier didn’t play ball.

A new report today from The Information adds to the mix, reporting details of encounters like the one above, as well as another involving a meeting between Huawei engineers working on a smartwatch and representatives of a component supplier.

The Earth isn’t flat, but you’d never know that from watching YouTube

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The internet makes it possible for the average person to access an incredibly vast amount of knowledge amassed over centuries, as long as they know where to look. Unfortunately, it also makes it very easy for conspiracy nuts to peddle their off-the-wall “truths” along those same information channels.

YouTube, the most popular video sharing site on the planet, is packed with more than its fair share of questionable content, and fake news is no exception. One of the darker and more bizarre corners of YouTube that continues to find an audience includes conspiracy videos that feature the “flat Earth” as a centerpiece. As it turns out, YouTube may be largely responsible for such theories catching on.

This might be our first look at the OnePlus 7

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

While we do expect OnePlus to release the OnePlus 7 in the first half of the year and the OnePlus 7T in the second part of 2019, the company is expected to do things a little differently this year. We’ll also see a third OnePlus device in some markets this year, and that’s going to be the first 5G phone from OnePlus. It might even be unveiled fairly soon. That said, we still have no idea what these devices will look like, and it seems a bit too early for OnePlus leaks. That said, anything is possible and a questionable leak has emerged that gives us our first look at what may turn out to be the OnePlus 7.

Razer Game Store will shut down just ten months after opening

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The company didn’t go into any specific reason for the decision, other than to place it within the larger context of a wider “realignment” at Razer, the 14-year-old gaming hardware manufacturer.

Our Sun is the most readily available source of energy we have available to us, but harnessing its incredible power is something humanity is still a challenge. Solar farms placed in sunny areas of the Earth do a good job of converting sunlight into usable energy, but major drawbacks remain.

For one, solar panels placed on the planet can only collect sunlight for a portion of the day, and weather can dramatically hinder their ability to create electricity. Now, China thinks it has a solution to both of those problems, and it’s going to test its idea within the next few years.
