5 hidden iPhone features even power users probably don’t know about
Remember when Android phones first started to get popular? People who chose Android over iOS would constantly brag about how much more capable and versatile their smartphones were compare to iPhones. And back in those days, they were right. Apple’s iPhone prioritized simplicity over versatility and many features that had been available for years on other smartphone platforms were omitted. Of course, plenty has changed since the early days. The iOS platform has grown over the years into one of the most feature-packed software platforms that has ever existed. In fact, there’s so much packed into modern versions of iOS that it’s impossible to remember all of the nifty features and functions that are available to users these days.
We regularly round up cool iOS features to share them with readers so that they can get the most out of their iPhones and iPads. After all, there could be great functionality hiding in there that will make your life easier, but it’s obviously useless if you don’t even know it exists. This time around, we’ve put together five wonderfully useful features that are buried so deep in iOS, even power users probably don’t know about them. We’re not talking about 3D Touching the keyboard to turn it into a trackpad here. No, we’ve got some awesome features for you that are so well hidden, we guarantee even the most hardcore Apple fans will learn something new before they leave.

This is our first look at Microsoft’s completely redesigned Edge browser for Windows
Gone are the days when Microsoft would be accused of anti-competitive practices because of the internet browser packaged with Windows. Internet Explorer is long dead too, and Google’s Chrome is now the most popular browser in the world, one that Microsoft is ready to emulate. Microsoft replaced Internet Explorer with Edge, but the Windows 10 browser failed to really compete against Chrome. So Microsoft announced a few months ago that Edge would be rebuilt from the ground on top of the open-source Chromium project. And now we have the first images of what Microsoft’s Chrome-like Edge could look like.

Galaxy S10 preorders higher than Galaxy S9 in Korea, but first-day registrations are lower
A pair of somewhat conflicting reports on Tuesday say that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 sold better than its predecessor during preorders in Korea, but that it also got less interest than the Galaxy S9 when it comes to first-day registrations. How can both of those things be true at the same time?

Huawei has had enough, reportedly plans to file suit against the US
A new chapter in the ongoing flap between the US and Huawei is about to get under way, with the Chinese smartphone maker reportedly planning a lawsuit to be filed against the US government later this week in Texas.
That’s where the company’s US office is located, and word of the suit comes via The New York Times, which reports that the lawsuit will focus on a defense spending authorization approved by Congress last year. In it, the federal government barred itself from using products made by Huawei as well as another Chinese hardware maker, ZTE.

SpaceX Crew Dragon docks with ISS, astronauts climb aboard
SpaceX’s weekend was a busy one to say the very least. The company’s Crew Dragon spacecraft headed to space atop one of its own Falcon 9 rockets early Saturday morning in the first true test of the crew module that will soon ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station.
The successful launch was a very big deal for both SpaceX and NASA, which desperately needs a new way to get its scientists to the ISS without relying on Russian rocket launches, but it wasn’t the only big test of Crew Dragon this weekend. The spacecraft also docked with the International Space Station and, for the first time ever, astronauts got a chance to explore it in space.

Facebook isn’t doing a great job protecting the phone number you gave it
Well, we all should have seen this coming. Facebook is under fire again for arguably misusing user data, this time related to the phone numbers that many of us provided as a way of adding a two-factor authentication layer to our profiles.
The problem is that Facebook is apparently using those phone numbers for the purpose we intended (account security), but also, well, for other things. Jeremy Burge, who runs the Emojipedia website, called attention to this in a series of tweets in recent days in which he notes that you can now apparently search user profiles via the phone numbers users have provided — and that there seems to be no way for users to tell Facebook to not allow this.

Apple’s newest patents hint at constant, AI-based user recognition
Technology giants, thankfully, are increasingly moving us toward a future with less of a reliance on passwords via technologies like face authentication, Touch ID and the like. Apple, for its part, may have had something along these lines in mind with its purchase of the patent portfolio of the defunct company Lighthouse AI, which focused on home security camera technology.
Official word of the portfolio’s reassignment appeared in the US Patent and Trademark Office database in recent weeks, according to an Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine report on Monday.

Google Maps now supports Lime scooters and bikes in dozens of new cities
Google toyed with Lime integration late last year, but only users in certain markets were able to find Lime scooters, pedal bikes, or e-bikes from within the application. That changed on Sunday, as Google announced that Lime support would be rolling out to Google Maps more broadly.
Google listed in a blog post all the US and international markets that are getting Lime support in Google Maps, and we’re looking at plenty of new cities where Google Maps will let you find your quick commute fix. Major cities in Europe are all covered by the update, and several major markets in the US are getting the same treatment. It’s likely that other cities around the world where Lime is available will be added to Maps in the future.
