Xbox One S All-Digital Edition with no disc drive rumored to launch in May
While the video game industry appears to be ramping up to the next generation of consoles, this generation might still have a surprise or two in store for us. On Tuesday, Windows Central, citing its sources, reported that a disc-less Xbox One, codenamed Xbox Maverick, will be available to preorder in mid-April of this year, with a full launch planned for early May. The console will supposedly be called the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition.
Reports of an Xbox One without a disc drive have been floating around the internet for months, but this is the first we’re hearing about concrete release plans and a potential name for the product. Digital purchases have become far more common this generation than they were in the last, and with the advent of digital-only services like Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud, a disc-less console is finally a viable option for gamers.

An HIV patient may have been cured of the disease for only the second time in history
The fight to beat HIV has been going on for a long, long time. The disease, which can be treated but not yet reliably beaten, often wins, but news out of London suggests that researchers may beginning to turn the tide. In what would only be the second time in medical history, an HIV patient appears to have been cured of the disease thanks to a bone marrow stem cell transplant.
The man, who has been HIV positive since at least 2003, now appears to have had the virus driven from his system by a very special genetic mutation present in the stem cells of a donor.

Archaeologists found an ‘immortality’ elixir hidden in an ancient tomb
Late last year, archaeologists in China found some very interesting items in an ancient tomb dating back as far as 202 BC, including a bronze vessel that somehow still held liquid. The liquid, which at the time was thought to be some type of wine, has since undergone closer examination that reveals its true purpose.
China’s Xinhua news agency is now reporting that the beverage was actually an “elixir of immortality” that matches descriptions from ancient documents. The substance has been tested and, if scientists are right about it, there’s probably little chance it would do anything to extend someone’s life, and may even usher death in even quicker.

EA’s brand new shooter ‘Anthem’ is reportedly crashing and bricking PS4 consoles
Bugs and the occasional crash are nothing new for online games. There’s only so much data a developer can gather from a stress test or a beta — the true evaluation comes when the game goes live. Now that a large percentage of us are always connected, the development team can simply issue a patch or a hot fix to address any issues that arise. But the issues aren’t often as serious as what EA is dealing with this week.
On Monday, Kotaku was among the first to report on a crashing epidemic that appears to be plaguing Anthem players on PS4. In a thread on the Anthem subreddit, a user explains that when the game crashes, they are not only booted to the main menu, but on more than one occasion, the PS4 has shut down entirely.

This might be the tech innovation Apple needs to make a foldable iPhone
The Galaxy Fold and Mate X are the best examples of what foldable smartphones may look like in the future, but they’re hardly the only ones. A variety of smartphone makers are already working on handsets with foldable screens, Apple included. Apple has hinted time and time again over the years that it’s developing the kind of technology that will allow it to create an iPhone with a foldable display, though it hasn’t ever explicitly stated that it’s working on such iPhones. But the one piece of tech Apple might need to make a foldable iPhone won’t come from Cupertino. Instead, Apple might be waiting for a supplier to deliver the kind of technology the Galaxy Fold and Mate X lack before it considers making a foldable iPhone.
