Netflix is focusing on an exciting new format for original shows and movies
Late last year, Netflix surprised subscribers with a new original release that was nothing like anything people had seen before from the world’s top source of streaming movies and TV shows. In fact, it was nothing like anything anyone had seen before from any of the popular streaming services out there. It was a new installment of Black Mirror, the popular dark anthology series Netflix had acquired a few years earlier. But there was something special about this particular episode.
The one-off called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch followed a young programmer named Stefan Butler as he created a video game in the 1980s based on an old choose-your-own-adventure fantasy novel. Actually, “followed” isn’t the best word to use here. The show didn’t merely follow Butler’s story, it let viewers write the programmer’s story themselves. Much like the choose-your-own-adventure novel on which Butler’s game was based, Bandersnatch stopped at various points in the show and asked the viewer to help choose what happened next. It’s an exciting and innovative format that brings a new interactive element to living room entertainment, and it’s something Netflix just confirmed it will focus on much more moving forward.

Huawei was just caught faking sample photos for its unreleased P30 Pro flagship phone
Huawei will unveil a brand new flagship smartphone whose main feature will be the multi-lens rear camera, that’s supposed to deliver better zoom than most competitors. The P30 series will be launched on March 26th in Paris, France, but we’ve already seen plenty of leaks detailing the upcoming phone. More importantly, the P30 Pro’s periscope camera was already confirmed — that’s the kind of tech that will support even better zoom than competing flagships. To tease the new zooming feature, Huawei posted several images on Weibo. But it turns out that at least one photo was taken with a DSLR camera, rather than the new P30 Pro.

Facebook briefly removed Elizabeth Warren’s ads that said Facebook has too much power
Facebook inadvertently helped Senator Elizabeth Warren’s new campaign by taking down a Warren add that said Facebook has too much power. Unsurprisingly, Facebook’s move made the news because Warren has been calling for the breakup of big tech companies including Facebook, warning against their increased power. While the removal of the ads may seem like some sort of defense against Warren’s new push, Facebook does appear to have had grounds to remove the ads.

Scientists found moving water on the Moon
The Moon apparently isn’t nearly as dry as scientists once thought. That’s the message from researchers using data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to detect water molecules and the behavior of the moisture over the course of a lunar day.
Earth’s Moon was once assumed to be a dry and dusty place, but over time that image has changed. Scientists discovered ice present near its poles, and more recently we’ve learned that liquid water does indeed exist within the lunar surface material, called regolith. Now, the LRO has revealed that the water present on the Moon’s surface actually moves around during lunar daytime.

The Trump administration wants to expand face-scanning at airports ASAP
The Trump administration is pushing hard for the installation of facial recognition technology at the biggest airports in the US, with a goal of eventually using it to track every international passenger who passes through them. Including Americans.
That’s according to documents uncovered by the Electronic Privacy Information Center, the contents of which were reported by BuzzFeed News — including details of an executive order President Trump signed in March 2017 mandating a fast rollout of biometric verification for all travelers coming into the US.

Paleontologists found a new species of dinosaur, and it’s just a little fella
Finding the scant remains of dinosaurs that roamed the Earth tens of millions of years ago obviously isn’t easy. Finding the remains of entirely new dinosaurs that nobody even knew existed? That’s even harder still, but researchers in Victoria, Australia did just that, and the newly documented herbivore would probably have been pretty adorable to see in person.
As detailed in a new report in the Journal of Paleontology, Galleonosaurus dorisae was a small plant eater that stomped around present-day Australia some 125 million years ago, and it likely used its small stature and impressive legs to duck from the more fearsome predators of the day.

Tesla reverses course on price cuts amid plans to keep most stores open
One of the more interesting and admirable things about Tesla over the years has been the company’s clear vision and unwavering adherence to a coherent product strategy. As laid out in the first installment of Tesla’s master plan more than a decade ago, the company described in clear terms its plan to revolutionize the auto industry by using profits from pricier electric vehicles to develop and manufacture a mass market EV, a car we now know as the Model 3.
Recently, though, Tesla seems to be somewhat prone to waffling as opposed to sticking with a coherent game plan. Late last month, for example, Tesla at long last announced the long-overdue arrival of the $35,000 Model 3. The company also announced that it would be closing nearly all of its stores and that the Model S and Model X would also see some slight price reductions.

This debit card comes with a built-in fingerprint sensor for contactless payments
Contactless payments aren’t new, as we already have mobile payments that involve our smartphones or an actual debit or credit card. But when it comes to cards, you still need to authenticate payments over a certain amount, and the only way to do that is with the use of a PIN code. However, some banks are ready to test a new kind of debit card — one that comes with a fingerprint sensor built into it.
NatWest is going to trial the concept in Great Britain, issuing 200 customers the new high-tech cards. The cards still use NFC technology for payments, like regular ones, but there’s no payment limit, The Verge explains.
