Gmail and YouTube hit with massive outage that sent the internet into a panic
What’s the first thing you do when any popular service you rely on goes down? Why you panic and take to social media to warn everyone that the end is nigh, of course! Beginning around 10:00 PM EST on Tuesday night, users around the world began to notice that something wasn’t right with several Google services on which they’ve come to rely. The first reports suggested something was amiss with Gmail, and the volume of those reports increased exponentially. Yes, Gmail was indeed down… but things didn’t stop there. Google Drive would quickly follow, with users unable to connect and access their files.
As if all that wasn’t bad enough, YouTube soon began having issues as well. A Google Drive outage is annoying and a Gmail outage is obviously even worst. YouTube was the last straw, however, and users poured into social media services like Facebook and Twitter to vent over the fact that they watch their favorite creators.

There’s a new theory about the strange asteroid Oumuamua, and aliens aren’t involved
One of the strangest astronomy stories of the past few years is the sudden appearance of what scientists believe is the first interstellar object ever to be detected in our solar system. The cigar-shaped space rock known as Oumuamua puzzled scientists who attempted to explain what it was and where it may have originated, and there are still more questions than answers.
At first, researchers couldn’t decide whether or not it was an asteroid or a comet, and then debate raged over why Oumuamua appeared to actually speed up after it swung around the Sun and headed back into space. That last point is still the subject of ongoing research, and a new theory to explain its acceleration is set to appear in Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Some analysts think Apple’s Netflix rival will top 100M subscribers within a few years
At this point, there are still tons of unknowns surrounding the streaming video service Apple is reportedly going to unveil at an event March 25, during which we will hopefully get to see, among other things, the first actual clips from shows that will be part of Apple’s forthcoming Netflix rival.
The event, which is set for 10 a.m. local time at the Steve Jobs Theater, is momentous for a few reasons. There’s the announcement itself, which will take the iPhone maker into territory dominated by rivals like Netflix and HBO — streaming giants that have been at this for a long time and know better than anyone how difficult it is to pick creators and shows that generate buzz, viewership and the prestige that creatives team in any field covet.

Japan might get an awesome new Moon rover built by Toyota
Sending humans back to the Moon is something that NASA and a number of other space agencies around the world are currently working towards. Getting back there won’t be easy, but that’s not stopping anyone from trying.
It’s been several decades since man has walked on the lunar surface, and the last time we were there, we brought a fancy car with us to help us get around. When humans head to the Moon again, they’re going to need transportation, and a new partnership between Japanese space agency JAXA and carmaker Toyota may solve that problem.

NASA boss says first Martian ‘likely to be a woman’
An upcoming spacewalk at the International Space Station will feature two female astronauts for the very first time. NASA didn’t specifically plan it as an “all-woman spacewalk,” but things just kind of shook out that way, and as NASA’s ranks are inching closer to an even split between male and female astronauts, some are wondering about how that might affect upcoming trips to the Moon and eventually Mars.
When NASA’s Apollo missions sent mankind to the Moon things were a lot different for women in NASA and, put simply, the agency was overwhelmingly male. Today, women make up 34% of active NASA astronauts, and while that’s still well short of half, it’s a lot closer than it has been in the past.
So, is it time for a woman to walk on the Moon? NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine thinks so.

Galaxy S10 face unlock tricked by a video of the phone’s owner
There’s no universal consensus regarding which form of biometric security is best, but what’s clear overwhelmingly clear is that none are perfect. This was made apparent once again last week, as Lewis Hilsenteger (Unbox Therapy) demonstrated on his YouTube channel just how easy it is to deceive the face unlock feature of Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S10. Keep in mind, this is a $900 smartphone that launched just days ago.
