Huge ‘Avengers: Endgame’ spoilers were hiding in plain sight in the second trailer

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Marvel released a second full trailer for Avengers: Endgame last week, and we’ve already analyzed it shot by shot as we sought out details about the upcoming Avengers adventure. Even still, it turns out we watched the trailer the wrong way and missed a big spoiler because of the way the video was formatted. There were different aspect ratios for the YouTube and Instagram versions of the trailer, and the latter showed us that Ant-Man will be rolling around with the miniaturized Hank Pym lab once he comes out of the Quantum Realm. On top of all that, we have two more huge Endgame spoilers for you that were hiding in plain sight in the second trailer.

Amazon sale slashes prices on the little box your cable company hates, today only

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you’re like us and pretty much everyone else in the country who pays for cable internet, you hate paying for cable internet. Well, we would happily pay for internet access if it wasn’t to a monopoly that lobbied for exclusive access to each region and then overcharged us as much as possible. There are plenty of bogus fees from your cable company that you can’t do anything about, and it stinks. But there’s one charge of a whopping $10 per month that you’re going to eliminate right now.

Cable companies charge you $10 a month to use their modems. You might not even realize it, but if you look at your bill right now you’ll find a modem rental fee. If you buy your own modem and return theirs, however, you won’t have to pay that fee any longer. Amazon is running a one-day Gold Box sale on cable modems with prices starting at just $55.99. Buy a modem of your choosing, activate it with your cable company using the instructions in the box, and then return the modem you rented from them. Presto, we just saved you $120 a year!

Check out all of the discounted modems below, and remember this sale is only good on Friday.

Google reveals how fast your internet will need to be to run Stadia

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Google unveiled its Stadia cloud gaming platform at GDC 2019 earlier this week, it managed to generate both excitement and apprehension from gamers, in roughly equal doses. On one hand, being able to play high-end games like Assassin’s Creed and Tomb Raider and Doom on virtually any connected device is a thrilling prospect. But on the other, Google left us with more questions than answers, despite packing a ton of detail into its keynote.

The biggest hurdle for any cloud gaming service is, obviously, access. While anyone with an internet connection can theoretically connect to Stadia (or OnLive, or Project xCloud, or any of the other services currently in development or already discontinued), how fast does their connection need for solid performance?

There’s been a lot of anticipation for the first all-female spacewalk which is rapidly approaching on March 29th, but before that historic adventure happens there’s another spacewalk that’s happening right now, and you can watch it live.

NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nick Hague are currently outside the International Space Station and will spend the next several hours replacing batteries that are vital to the space station’s solar array. The work is delicate and demanding, and they have to do it all in zero gravity, making for a very special kind of entertainment.

This new feature coming to Android Q is so much better than it is on iPhones

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Generally speaking, iOS on Apple’s iPhone is the most refined mobile platform on the planet. From the UI to the UX, Apple’s designs are often far more clean and logical than similar elements on Android. Of course sometimes Apple makes decisions in iOS that are nothing short of mind-boggling. The best example of this is one that has puzzled iPhone users for more than a decade now: why on Earth would Apple design a massive volume HUD that blocks the center of the screen when you adjust the volume? You could rack your brain for months and never come up with a worse way to illustrate the volume level on an iPhone. Apple finally began to display a smaller volume indicator in the corner of some screens as of iOS 11, but the huge annoying volume HUD still remains in most parts of the interface even now in iOS 12.

While the volume HUD is the most obvious example of awful design and feature decisions in iOS, it’s hardly the only one. Apple happily borrows from Android when revamping certain things like notifications, just as Google constantly borrows from iOS with each new version of Android. But what’s odd is that there are some areas where Apple simply refuses to improve iOS, even when there are much better solutions available in Android. The volume HUD is one great example of something that’s handled much better in Android, but there are plenty more where that came from.

Here are the highlights from the product page:

  • IMPRESSIVE SOUND QUALITY IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL & PLEASE NOTE: 1. • NEVER POWER OFF, BOTH WIRELESS & WIRED: 1. The wireless mode: Battery update to 20-hr music time/ talking time in a single charge, instead of 13-15 hrs from Oct 1, 2017; 2. The Wired mode: you can also use it as a wired headphone with the provided audio cable so the headphones will never power off.
  • FOLDABLE DESIGN WITH A PORTABLE BAG & GENTLE REMINDER : The foldable Headband is not only designed for saving your desk space but for carrying in the provided bag. Gentle Reminder: Depending on your head/ear size/shape, it may be a little tight(feels like“on ear”) for someone to wear which is designed to avoid sound leakage. In case of that and to get both audio and wearing comfort, please take off the headphone every 1-2 hrs to get your ears relax and protect them from muggy environment in use.

Netflix is testing a mobile-only plan for just $3.62

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In January of this year, Netflix announced the biggest price increase in the history of its streaming service. The company’s most popular plan jumped from $10.99 to $12.99, while the basic plan increased from $7.99 to $8.99 and the premium plan ballooned from $13.99 to $15.99. All of those increases stung, but the main plan was the worst — a $2 price hike from $11 to $13 per month is a whopping 18% increase, the largest by far since Netflix first launched its streaming entertainment service back in 2007.

Of course, most Netflix subscribers are happy to pay the newly increased prices. Well, perhaps “happy” isn’t the proper word, but you won’t see a mass exodus from Netflix anytime soon. The company spends billions of dollars each year to license some of the best third-party content around. It also invests billions more into creating some of the most critically acclaimed original TV series and movies in the world right now. Just look at the 44 new original shows, movies, and specials set to debut on Netflix in April 2019 alone. People will indeed gladly pay between $9 and $16 to access all that streaming entertainment… but what if you could stream it all for just $3.62 per month?
