Apple rethinks the credit card and unveils the Apple Card

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As far as Apple events go, today’s “Show Time” event is particularly intriguing, if not downright exciting. While events like WWDC are predictable in the sense that we know we’re going to see updates to iOS and watchOS, Apple today is poised to announce a number of new initiatives in markets it historically has no experience in, including news subscriptions and TV production.

While Apple can undoubtedly make killer hardware and best-in-class software, the notion of Apple rolling out its own TV shows, for example, is something that would have seemed like a joke even a few years ago. Suffice it to say, today’s Apple event marks an interesting turning point for the company.

Based on the invitations, the streaming service will likely be the highlight of the event, but recent reports have suggested that Apple will use this opportunity to unveil a variety of new subscription services. The event will kick off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.

Apple’s streaming service remained something of a mystery up until the past few weeks, but began to take shape in light of multiple reports from various sources. Based on those reports, Apple will only have a limited number of its own shows ready at launch, but has already struck deals with multiple major content providers, including HBO, Showtime, and Starz. It’s unclear how their content will be integrated into the service, though.

The biggest ‘Avengers: Endgame’ leak yet might’ve just spoiled the entire movie

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We have exactly one month and one day to go before the most hotly anticipated movie of 2019 hits theaters around the world. We’re obviously talking about Avengers: Endgame, the star-studded film that will bring an end to the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has paved the way to an exciting Phase 4 of the MCU, with new heroes like Captain Marvel leading the way. Of course we won’t arrive at Phase 4 until Endgame premieres to bring us an action-packed and inevitably heartbreaking conclusion to this chapter of the Marvel story.

Disney and Marvel obviously do everything in their power to prevent the details surrounding Avengers: Endgame from leaking. Of course, they’re not always successful. In fact, some of the biggest spoilers we’ve seen so far have come directly from Marvel itself. Take the second Endgame trailer, for example. First of all, the trailer shows all of our favorite heroes strutting in new suits just like Hank Pym’s in Ant-Man and the Wasp, so we know they’ll be making their way to the Quantum Realm. This is obviously going to play a big role in the movie, since the Quantum Realm opens the door to endless possibilities. On top of that, we now know without a doubt that Tony and Nebula are saved despite being lost in space and close to death in the first trailer. How do we know? Because the Benatar they’re on is pictured once again in the second trailer, but this time Black Widow and Hawkeye are on board. How would Nat and Clint find themselves aboard the Benatar if it didn’t somehow make its way back to Earth?

Not all of the leaks we’ve seen have come straight from Marvel and Disney, of course. Some supposed insiders have been spilling beans here and there around the web. Several of those spoilers have been firmed up thanks to subsequent leaks, like when Disney showed shareholders a scene from Avengers: Endgame behind closed doors. Those leaks are nothing compared to new details that might have hit the web recently. In fact, the entire movie might have just been spoiled by someone with inside knowledge. Needless to say, massive spoilers follow below so proceed with caution.

Galaxy S10 5G could hit unprecedented speeds of up to 4 Gbps

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The 5G era is nearly upon us, and Samsung will help lead the charge into the future with the Galaxy S10 5G on April 5th. It will be a few months before most carriers take full advantage of the technology, but based on early tests, it’ll be worth the wait. As big of a leap as 4G LTE was over 3G, 5G is a new beast altogether.

According to a recent report in The Korea Herald, South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has “completed key tests” of its 5G network using the Galaxy S10 5G ahead of the phone’s launch next Friday. Over the past two months, SKT has tested interoperability on its network, interface, frequency, and covered at least one hundred scenarios to make sure that Samsung’s 5G flagship will be totally compatible and running at full speed on day one.

Qlearly catapults Chrome bookmarks and tabs into the future

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As of February of this year, Google’s Chrome desktop web browser owned a remarkable 65% of the global browser market, according to market research firm NetApplications. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is still the second most popular browser in the world, but it’s not even close — IE held just 10.23% of the market as of last month, and no other web browser even managed a double-digit market share. Long story short, Chrome is far and away the king of web browsers right now. Of course, just because Chrome is popular doesn’t make it perfect, which is why Google hosts a thriving Chrome Web Store that’s packed full of great extensions.

Some Chrome extensions are designed to enhance specific websites. For example, there are a ton of great Netflix tweaks in the Chrome Web Store that make everyone’s favorite source of streaming entertainment even better. But there are other extensions in there that are designed to enhance Chrome itself, and we recently came across a new one that you’ve got to check out.
