Watch NASA astronauts live on a spacewalk outside the ISS
NASA was forced to cancel a planned all-female spacewalk this week, replacing astronaut Anne McClain with fellow ISS resident Nick Hague due to a lack of available space suits in the correct sizes. The space program has gotten a lot of (largely undeserved) criticism for the situation, but the show must go on, and the spacewalk is happening right now.
Nick Hague and Christina Koch, both new ISS inhabitants that arrived at the space station earlier this month, are currently outside the spacecraft for a day of work. The pair are installing components that will allow the space station’s new batteries to be charged via its large solar array, storing vital power for the space station.

Leaked iPhone 11 schematics show what may be Apple’s new triple-lens camera design
In an article on the site just yesterday, we discussed how 2019 could shape up to be a pretty disappointing year for iPhones fans. While Android phone vendors continue to explore intriguing new all-screen phone designs that further increase their screen-to-body ratios, it looks like Apple plans to reuse its iPhone X design for a third consecutive year. Reports from Ming-Chi Kuo, the world’s top Apple insider, suggest that the new iPhone 11 could feature improved waterproofing, enhanced Face ID, the same wireless power-sharing feature as Samsung’s Galaxy S10 line that most people probably won’t ever use, and a new frosted glass back instead of clear glass. In other words, we’re hoping for big things from Apple’s iOS 13 software because it looks like we’re not getting much as far as hardware upgrades are concerned.
There is some silver lining, however. On top of those details, leaked factory CAD files that are believed to be accurate were used to create renders of Apple’s upcoming new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max, and they showed two different rear camera configurations that are both pretty big departures from the iPhone XS and iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 will apparently have a rear camera array that is reoriented and centered on the back of the phone, while the larger iPhone 11 Max will have a new triple-lens camera in the top-left corner. Now, a new leak provides even more evidence that those earlier leaks were legitimate.

Behold: This is the stunning all-screen iPhone 12 of your dreams
If you’re an Android phone user, 2019 is shaping up to be a very exciting year. If you’re an iPhone user, well, not so much. Apple took the design idea LG first introduced back in 2015 and created the biggest smartphone trend we’ve seen in years with the iPhone X’s notch in 2017. Dozens of Android phone makers copied the design so closely that it was embarrassing. But then toward the end of the year last year in 2018, they began shifting away from the large notch on Apple’s iPhones and releasing smartphones with nifty new designs. After all, the notch on the iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max is so big because it houses multiple sensors tied with Apple’s advanced TrueDepth camera for Face ID. None of the Android phones that stole Apple’s iPhone notch design used advanced 3D facial recognition like Face ID — they were just copying Apple for the sake of copying Apple. When they realized they could make phones with even better screen-to-body ratios with solutions like teardrop notches and pop-up selfie cameras, they moved on.
In 2019, better all-screen smartphone designs are leaving China and moving into the mainstream in other big smartphone markets like the United States. Samsung’s just-released Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ feature a new hole-punch design that eliminates the notch and places cameras behind tiny holes cut out of the screens themselves. Other upcoming phones this year like the OnePlus 7 will sport selfie cameras that pop up out of the top edge of the phone only when you need them. But while all this is happening elsewhere in the industry, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 11 series phones are expected to look just like the last two generations of iPhone, with a big notch at the top of the display.

FTC slaps companies responsible for billions of robocalls with multi-million dollar fines
Over the past few years, spam calls have become an increasing and seemingly inescapable nuisance. In 2018 alone, a report found that the number of spam calls jumped by a whopping 325%. Compounding matters is that many of the scammers behind the plague of robocalls use numbers that look remarkably similar to a recipient’s own number, thus tricking unsuspecting users into answering the phone.
In an effort to alleviate this growing problem, the FTC recently got involved and issued significant fines while banning four specific companies responsible for a large volume of robocalls. All told, the four companies in question — a list which includes NetDotSolutions, Higher Goals Marketing, Veterans of America, and Pointbreak Media — were responsible for billions of illegal robocalls, some of which sought to coerce users to hand over money for fake charities.

NASA’s Hubble spotted an asteroid spinning so fast it’s self-destructing
When you imagine an asteroid cruising through the solar system you probably think of it as a static object, not doing much beyond speeding along in a straight line and eventually running into something. The reality can be much different and, as a new image from the Hubble Space Telescope shows, asteroids sometimes have self-destructive habits.
The snapshot shows the asteroid known as 6478 Gault, which is caught in a permanent spin cycle. In fact, the space rock is rotating so rapidly that it’s actually shedding its own material as it speeds through space, slowly disintegrating and leaving a trail of debris in its wake.

Legendary investor Warren Buffett is (sort of) optimistic about Apple’s TV plans
Speaking at The Gatehouse’s Hands Up for Success luncheon, legendary investor Warren Buffett earlier today expressed cautious optimism surrounding Apple’s upcoming foray into the TV business.
In remarks picked up by CNBC, Buffett explained that there are only so many hours in the day that viewers watch TV and that Apple is entering a market already filled with successful players who have established track records when it comes to rolling out compelling content.
