“On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man / In a dusty black coat with a red right hand …”

If you’re already a fan of the fantastic British gangster drama Peaky Blinders that’s set just after World War I and follows the escapades — both criminal and otherwise — of the Shelby family of Birmingham, you’re already counting down the days until you hear the moody theme song again that we referenced above.

Season 5 of the series debuts in the US on Netflix October 4, and it’s shaping up to be another massively successful addition to Netflix’s impossibly massive stable of content.

New House bill includes no extra allowance for NASA, threatening 2024 Moon program

%name New House bill includes no extra allowance for NASA, threatening 2024 Moon program by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA wants to go back to the Moon. That was true even before Donald Trump won the presidency, but a mandate by the administration to make a crewed Moon mission a reality “within five years” dramatically shortened the space agency’s timeline. Now, with the fuse lit, NASA is doing everything in its power to meet that demand, and that means it’s going to need a serious boost in funding.

Accelerating a mission as huge as sending humans back to the Moon means spending a lot more money in a much shorter amount of time, and NASA made that clear. Now, a new House spending bill that could have helped make the Moon mission a reality instead includes no additional allowance for NASA, raising serious questions about the mission.

%name Check out these brilliant ‘Friends’ Easter eggs on Google for the show’s 25th anniversary by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the debut of NBC’s classic 90s sitcom Friends — broadcast way back on September 22, 1994 — we learned earlier this year that the beloved series will be leaving its current streaming home of Netflix and moving over to WarnerMedia’s new streamer HBO Max.

The news caused a predictable howl on social media and among the fans who still have tons of affection for the series, as evidenced by the fact that a handful of popular episodes are coming to theaters to coincide with Sunday’s 25th anniversary of the series. Also getting in on the act and sharing in the love for the series: Google Search, which has several Friends-themed Easter Eggs that you can find right now. And here’s how you do it.

Scientists think they’ve solved the mystery of sunspots

%name Scientists think they’ve solved the mystery of sunspots by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We owe a lot to our Sun, and without it, well, we wouldn’t be here at all. Scientists have studied our star for a long time, and learned plenty about it over the years, but one of the mysteries that has endured for centuries is the sunspot cycle.

Every 11 years, the Sun produces far more sunspots — dark blotches on the star’s surface — than at any other time, and this cycle has always left researchers scratching their heads. Now, a new study out of the University of Washington suggests a possible explanation, and it hinges on the behavior of plasma.

Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro doesn’t have Google’s app store, but Android is still its future

%name Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro doesn’t have Google’s app store, but Android is still its future by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Mate 30 phones might be powered by EMUI 10 based on Android 10, but they’re not running Google’s version of Android. You won’t find the Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps, or Google Search, and that much was evident early in the Mate 30 presentation on Thursday. As soon as Huawei’s App Gallery app store appeared, it was obvious that Huawei would march ahead without Google, as long as the US ban is still in place.

That’s because Huawei is giving serious consideration to using Android as a base for its own OS. And it’s not even talking about HarmonyOS for smartphones, which is what we’re probably going to see one day on Huawei phones, ban or no ban. Huawei, forced by the US government, seems ready to put a lot of resources into mounting a sort of attack unlike anything we’ve seen before, though others have tried: Using Android against Google.

US Navy confirms recent UFO videos are, in fact, real

%name US Navy confirms recent UFO videos are, in fact, real by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

UFO sightings are a dime a dozen, but some are definitely more credible than others. Your neighbor two doors down that swears he saw a glowing triangle on the horizon probably didn’t see aliens, but when US Navy pilots spot something that, in their expert opinion, defies the laws of Earthly flight, well, that’s something to pay attention to.

A couple of years back, videos began to surface showing mysterious flying objects which were captured on video by military aircraft. The videos, complete with cockpit audio records, are truly incredible, and now the U.S. Navy has weighed in, admitting that nobody has any idea what they are.
