An interesting project hit Kickstarter not too long ago, offering buyers a breakthrough innovation in shaving. The sci-fi Skarp razor supposedly packs a laser that’s able to give users an even better, closer shave. The project had a $160,000 goal but recently blew past $4 million in pledges from interested consumers. However, Kickstarter soon took notice of the product’s popularity, and after investigating it further, the company decided to ban it.

You may not realize this, but every time you ask Google Now a question, Google makes a recording of it and keeps it stored in its vast trove of information it stores on you. The Guardian’s Alex Hern recently discovered how to access his entire archive of voice recordings from his Google Now sessions and he felt a little unnerved to hear himself ask questions at times when he wasn’t exactly sober.

The Martian is a spectacular movie, so you should definitely see it. The film paints a believable picture of the first human missions to Mars. The technology that fictional astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) uses to try to survive on the planet is inspired by existing technology, as NASA itself has revealed.

But there’s plenty of laughably outdated tech in The Martian, the kind that tech fans will immediately notice. And no, it’s not the advanced NASA geeky tech Watney uses, but the everyday tech shown in scenes back on Earth.
