Everyone knows that when you hold a compass in your hand the needle will point north thanks to Earth’s magnetic field, but aside from simple navigation you probably don’t spare much thought for our planet’s magnetism. However, that doesn’t mean that your body isn’t still sensing the geomagnetic forces, and a new study suggests that humans, like many other animals, can indeed sense the magnetic field.

The research, which was carried out by scientists at Caltech, reveals that humans have what might be described as a subconscious ability to detect geomagnetic forces. Whether that ability played a role in our past or if it’s still influencing us today is a much more difficult question to answer.

The annual Game Developers Conference isn’t known for generating big headlines, but this year is different. Google announced earlier this year that it will hold a keynote at the event, during which it is expected to formally announce its long-awaited cloud gaming platform. The whole thing is shrouded in mystery, but we’ll see exactly how Google plans to compete in the video game market at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 19th.

We got a taste of Google’s platform last fall, when the company invited select users to try out its Project Stream cloud gaming tech by letting them stream Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Chrome. As I said at the time, the test was about as close to flawless as I could have expected, and showed the potential of Google’s platform.

With the unveiling of Apple’s streaming service just days away, and Spotify going so far as to bundle Hulu into all of its Premium plans at no extra charge, I figured this would be a massive month for Netflix. That’s not to say that anyone is actually going to cancel their subscription, but at least give subscribers a few reasons to be excited about paying for the world’s most popular streaming service. Unfortunately, that’s not the case in April.

Other than a few highlights at the beginning of the month — like Deliverance, I Am Legend, The Fifth Element, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2 — there aren’t quite as many recognizable licensed or original hits as we’re used to seeing month after month. But I will probably rewatch The Hateful Eight in a few weeks.

Regardless of whether or not it’s a commercial success, no phone is likely to receive as much buzz as the Galaxy Fold in 2019 (at least not until Apple announces its latest iPhones). As one of the first mobile devices with a foldable display, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold will be something of a niche product at first, but could help pave the way for the next major shift in phone design. But before it can do any of that, we need to get our hands on it.

Despite the fact that the Fold is due out in just over a month, Samsung hasn’t let anyone handle the device yet. But that didn’t stop YouTuber phoneoftime, who shared a video of the AT&T variant of the Galaxy Fold powering on and being used on Monday. It’s as comprehensive of a hands-on video as we’ve seen to date.
